How To Select a Chandelier
|
|
General Tips
The style of your chandelier selection can set the theme for your dining room. Choose from
one of the many styles offered by Shoreview Lighting from the very traditional to contemporary you
should find it here. Chandeliers should always be dimmed. Place chandeliers about 30" to 36" above your
table, and choose a chandelier that fits the size of the table. There should be a minimum of 150 watts
total in the chandelier.
Highlights & Serving
Both formal and infromal lighting can be used in the dining area. A dimmer should be used
to create different effects. For a formal look, dim the chandelier until it appears to glow. For family
dinners, you probably want a bright cheerful light. For formal dinners a soft flattering light is
generally more desirable. Dramatize important objects with downlights, using the same type of fixture
each time.
Task Lighting
If you use your dining room for tasks such as childrens homework or studying consider a chandelier with
an integral down light for additional light on the table.
